Letter from Executive Director:

Hello Lacrosse Families,

Spring is here and that means Lacrosse season is upon us!  I am so very excited to see all of our players out and about in the community with sticks in hand and Vail Lax Orange and Blue on.  To me, very few things compare to watching the first practices of the season after a long winter.  Every returning family knows that lacrosse season is fast and furious.  A HUGE WELCOME to our new families and coaches that are about to join us on this wonderful journey for the next two months!  As we embark on the season, there are a couple of points of importance I would like to cover:

  1. VVLC is a non-profit organization by the community, for the community!

It takes a village to raise kids and we are humbled by your trust in VVLC to teach them the amazing sport of Lacrosse and the life lessons that go along with it.

  1. Our club is a volunteer based organization.  Without the volunteer support of each and every family in the club and our sponsors, we would not be able to keep the sport affordable and accessible to anyone that wishes to play.  When the call goes out, please answer it. (More to come on this).

  2.  VVLC has very high expectations of our coaches, players and parents! This expectation has nothing to do with wins or loses but more importantly has everything to do with fun, sportsmanship and growth of our kids as both the player and the person.  Please refrain from sideline & car coaching at all times!

  3. We are all passionate about our kids and most of us are, or will become passionate about the sport of lacrosse.  With that said, it is imperative that our passion is always positive and that we set the right examples for our kids, our community and for the sport at large.

  4. Our Board of Directors, Volunteers, Athletic Directors, Coaches, Referee’s and Parents are human.  Occasionally mistakes will occur, when they do, approach the situation with positive intent and help us by being part of the solution.  There’s a great view when taking the high road!

  5. If you need information on anything regarding the club, teams, contacts, schedules, upcoming events etc… please go to for all things Vail Lax.

With that out of the way, I want to make you aware of some exciting upcoming events.  This Monday April 10th is uniform night at Sun & Ski in Avon. Please reference the email you received for details and please hit this LINK TO VOLUNTEER if you can help the cause.  Next on the Calendar is our Annual Beer Tasting Fundraiser being held this year at The Westin Riverfront in Avon on Wednesday April 26th!  This is always a great night to celebrate, and what better way than by sampling some of our best local Brews, Wines and Whiskeys with great friends!  Take advantage of the free valet for the event.  Call the hotel for special room rates and the kids club will be available that night for little ones.  Go to to register for this awesome event.  Our goal this year is to raise $15,000, which will go largely towards player scholarships and youth rental equipment purchase.  As one of our biggest fundraisers of the year, besides your attendance of course, silent auction items are an easy way to contribute to the night -LINK TO SILENT AUCTION GIVING FORM.  Lastly, our biggest fundraiser and event of the season… The Vail Lax Jam!  Remember above where I wrote “More to come”…Well this is the one we need all hands on the Volunteer deck!  With over 90 teams spread out across the valley, it takes everyone in the club to pull this off.  Stay tuned for email information on the tournament and volunteer opportunity sign ups.  Please help make this the best tournament on the western slope yet again!

With all of your support, the kid’s hard work, our talented coaching staff and Athletic Director Chris Bivona’s dedication, I cannot help but smile with anticipation of the season to come.  It is with great pleasure that I have the opportunity to welcome all of you to the 2017 Lacrosse season.  I very much look forward to seeing you on the sidelines cheering Vail Lax on, every step of the way!

Warmest regards,

Coach Mike
