Chris Bivona - Athletic Director 
Coach began his playing career at Blair Academy where he was a 3 Sport Varsity Athlete (soccer, ski racing and lacrosse) He was 2x 1st Team all state, 2x All MAPL as well as top 10 in scoring in the state of New Jersey both Junior and Senior years. Coach Bivona burst on the Division III college scene playing for upstate powerhouse Skidmore College. As a freshman he scored 74 points earning 1st team all league honors as well as Liberty league Rookie of the Year. Coach ended his career as the Skidmore College as the all time leading scorer with 220 points earning USILA 3rd Team All-American, USILA Academic All-American, Liberty League Player of the Year and Skidmore College Male Athlete of the Year. Currently still holding the all time leading scoring record, other records include points in a season with 74, 2nd in career assists with 115, 1st in goals in a game: 8 vs Hartwick, 7 vs FDU Madison. Also, while at Skidmore, Coach Bivona captained the 2001 Skidmore Mens College Soccer team which was recently inducted into the Skidmore College Hall of Fame having been considered the most successful Skidmore Soccer team to date.  Coach was also inducted as in individual into the Skidmore College Hall of Fame for his success on the lacrosse field where he was instrumental in “putting Skidmore Lacrosse on the map” 

Prior to arriving in Vail, Coach Bivona was the Head Varsity Coach at Sparta HS in NJ. Over those 3 years at the helm the Spartans went 40-16 and were ranked 18th in the state of NJ going 19-3 in his last year.

Brian Welch - Spring 2017 U15 Red
Brian developed his love for the game at an early age, playing for youth leagues in Denver.  Brian was a 4 year Varsity athlete in both Lacrosse and Cross Country at Cherry Creek High school.  During his High School career, Brian lead the team in goals and assists, received First Team All State honors, and was selected as Team Captain. Brian was recruited to Butler University where his knowledge and passion for the game grew while competing at the Division I level.  As a starting Midfielder Brian lead the team in groundball’s during his Junior season.  Brian was again selected as Team Captain his Senior year.  However, Butler University cut the program just before the season due to funding.  Brian decided to spend the season coaching a local High School program as the Varsity Assistant.  Brian also coached youth lacrosse teams during the summer while in High School.  Brian has continued to participate in men’s club lacrosse leagues and has played in the Vail Lacrosse Shootout for over 15 years.  Throughout his career Brian has seen how coaches and programs can have a positive impact on young athletes in the development of good sportsmanship, teamwork, and work ethic. He is excited to be a part of the VVLC and looks forward to sharing his passion for the game.

Ben Demarco - Spring 2017 U15 Red
Coach DeMarco grew up playing box lacrosse for the Aleghany Arrows in the North American Minor Lacrosse Association on the Native American Reservations in upstate NY. From there he went on to play at Jamestown High School in upstate New York where he was a three time starter and two time captain on the varsity team.  In the summers Ben played for the Buffalo Lacrosse Academy a college prep and showcase team.  Ben would go on to earn an athletic scholarship to play division 2 lacrosse at Mars Hill University (a top 10 division 2 school located in western NC). After one year he transferred to division 3 Alfred University in upstate NY where he would be a three year starter and two time captain for the Saxons while earning a bachelors in sociology. Ben would go on to play semi professional box lacrosse for the Allegany Arrows as well as the Pinewood smoke in the Can-Am leaugue for 3 seasons. 


Forbes Wallach - Spring 2017 U15 Blue
Forbes Wallach grew up in Denver, CO where he started playing lacrosse in the 5th Grade.  After grade school, Forbes attended a boarding school in Pottstown PA, called The Hill School.  At The Hill School, Forbes was a 4-year member of the varsity lacrosse team.  Forbes attended the University of Colorado where he played on the MCLA Division I team for 2 seasons (2010-11).  Forbes has lived in the Vail Valley for three years, and this will be his first season with the Vail Valley Lacrosse Club.  Forbes enjoys skiing, mountain biking, and golfing in his free time.      
Chris Caruso - Spring 2017 U15 Blue
Chris hails from Northborough, MA and played both local youth box lacrosse in addition to high school lacrosse at Algonquin Regional High School. Upon graduation he pursued a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice at The Pennsylvania State University where he was also a collegiate ski racer. After graduation Chris moved to the Vail Valley and began a career with the Vail Ski and Snowboard School and as a Solar Installer with Active Energies, Inc.  Chris gained his passion working with youth during his stints as a ski racing coach and spending a summer teaching elementary school in Atlanta, GA. Chris is really excited to get back on the field coaching lacrosse. When he is not coaching, he can be found pedaling his bikes on the local trails and roads.


Tom Gibson - Spring 2017 U13 Red 
Tom grew up in Newtown, Pa playing for the Lower Bucks and Council Rock Lacrosse Programs since 6th grade.  He also played box lacrosse in the Peddie Lacrosse League in New Jersey.  His foundation of learning the game in a club environment has ignited his passion to coach for the Vail Valley Lacrosse Club.  He played lacrosse at Eastern University and lead the Eagles his Junior and Senior years as a team captain.  Tom joined VVLC last fall assisting the U-12 boys battle against the competition in Denver.  Off the field he enjoys snowboarding, camping, and fly fishing.

Chris Inks - Spring 2017 U13
Chris grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and fell in love with lacrosse in 5th grade. He started out playing as an attackman, but switched to playing goalie during his 8th grade season. He played goalie for Seneca Valley High School until he was in his junior year. Mid season he moved to Erie, Pennsylvania and attended Fairview High School. He started a lacrosse team his senior year at Fairview where he earned first team all-star, mvp, and the title of captain.
After graduating high school, Chris went on to study strategic communications at Penn State. He played all four years on Penn State Behrends club team, splitting his time between goalie and attack. While playing at Penn State Chris was awarded the honor of team captain all four years.
Chris' coaching career started at Fairview High School during his freshman year of college where he spent six seasons as the JV head coach and assistant varsity coach. Then in November of 2016, Chris moved to Colorado to follow his dream of being a Vail Snowboard Instructor. Since moving to Colorado he has gotten involved in the lacrosse community here and is currently coaching at Battle Mountain High School acting as the JV assistant coach and goalie coach for both JV and Varsity.
Chris is looking forward to the opportunity to share his knowledge and love of the sport with the Vail Valley Lacrosse Club. 

Nick Carter - Spring 2017 U13 Blue
Nick grew up in Cheshire, CT and started playing lacrosse in 6th grade and it quickly became his favorite sport.  He played Midfield until the middle of Junior year when he was moved to Attack.  Nick was a 3 year Varsity player and attended Cheshire High School where he and his teammates won a State Championship in 2002, the first his High School had ever won.  He has played at the collegiate level in Division III for Springfield College (MA) and Keene State College (NH).  He has experience coaching at his former High School as the Offensive Coach for the JV and Freshman teams as well.  He has lived in the Valley for 6 years and this will be his 3rd season with the Vail Valley Lacrosse Club.  His love for coaching the game has only grown since moving to the mountains.  In his free time, Nick likes to work on his Jeep, Off-Road and go Camping.

Adam Trattler - Spring 2017 U13 Blue
Adam grew up in Denver, CO where he began playing lacrosse in the 3rd grade.  He later played four years of varsity at Denver East High School, one of the most prestigious programs in the state.  Adam attended the University of Colorado and has been playing Adult Rec League lacrosse since his days at Denver East.  Adam has witnessed, first hand, the immense growth of the sport in the state of Colorado and is excited to continue that tradition.

Nick Cooke - Spring 17 U13 Blue
Nick grew up in New Hampshire where he played a variety of sports, from skiing to ice hockey to football to cheerleading (1 winter season with the ladies), but his favorite was always lacrosse. He played midfield for Bishop Guertin High School where they used to travel around New England and the tri-states to play prep school teams since competition in New Hampshire was scarce. Nick won 4 championships while playing lax with Bishop Guertin, and also won 4 other state championships on his other high school teams. After graduating high school, he went to the University of Tampa to play lacrosse. His time playing college lacrosse was limited as it was a commitment unlike high school but since then, he has had a desire to get back into lacrosse. He moved to Colorado right after college, and now you will find Nick either riding his mountain bike (only going downhill) or skiing (also, only downhill). Nick is excited about the opportunity to help the young athletes of the Vail Valley get their game to the next level. 

Collin Brooke - Spring 17 U13 Blue
Collin started playing lacrosse in 5th grade in Colorado Springs for Cheyenne mountain lacrosse club.  Attended Christ Church School in Virginia. At Christchurch Collin was a two sport athlete playing lacrosse and football. He was a 3X all state football player. In lacrosse he was 3X first team all state, 2X all prep and was selected as a US high school All- American his senior year.  After high school he played Division 1 lacrosse at Quinnipiac University. After his sophomore season he transferred to Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction Colorado where he finished his playing career earning all conference his Jr year. Has coach for Madlax in Washington DC, Rebellax in northern Virginia, Altidudestickness in Denver and has help run clinics at Quinnipiac and Colorado Mesa.

Chris Powell - Spring 2017 U12 Red
Chris grew up in Gaithersburg, MD playing lacrosse for Montgomery Village Sports Association. Starting in 3rd grade, Chris knew he had found a sport that would replace baseball.  In high school, Chris played at Georgetown Prep where the Hoyas were consistently ranked in the top 5 in the nation and were ranked #1 in the nation his senior year.  Chris chose to pursue a major in Environmental Studies at the University of North Carolina Wilmington where he played club lacrosse. While in school, Chris spent four years as a head coach at a local middle school. Chris is very excited to have the opportunity to coach again and share his love of the game with others.

Connor O'Brien - Spring 2017 U12 Red
Connor grew up in Ridgefield, CT and played for the local youth lacrosse programs and at nationally ranked Ridgefield High School. He then continued on to pursue a Bachelors degree in history and collegiate ski racing career at Castleton State College in Vermont. He also played lacrosse at the club level at Castleton, and coached for Fun In The Sun Lacrosse Camp in Burlington, VT in 2014. Before moving to the Vail Valley, Connor gained experience working with young adults at Mount Hood Summer Ski Camp in Mt. Hood, Oregon and the Castleton Elementary School mentoring program in Castleton, VT. Connor has coached U12 athletes in the Alpine Racing program at Ski & Snowboard Club Vail since 2013.

Trevor Harnsberger - Spring 2017 U12 Blue
Trevor grew up in Bedford NH, and quickly found a love for lacrosse and started playing for the Bedford lacrosse club in 4th grade. Soon after Trevor was started playing summer lacrosse for the New Hampshire Tomahawks run by coach Chris Cameron, who played for Lehigh university and currently is tied for sixth in all time division 1 scoring. Plans to play at Bishop Guertin high school in Nashua, NH, changed when Trevor decided to pursue a ski racing career at the small ski racing academy in Waitsfield, VT, Green Mountain Valley School. During this time, Trevor still played lacrosse for GMVS, bringing the team to its first ever two state championship showings in school history, and claiming the state championship title his junior year at GMVS. Trevor tried to squeeze in as much lacrosse as he could during the fall and summer seasons when he wasn't traveling for ski racing. Trevor was going to be playing at Saint Michael's college in Winooski VT, this spring however, after spending last season in the Vail Valley, he found himself back here for another season. During the winters Trevor is a boot fitter for Surefoot Vail and during the summers he takes classes at CMC, studying for a degree in business. 

Austin Stauffer - Spring 2017 U12 Blue
Coach Austin Stauffer was born and raised in Holland, Mi where he started to play lacrosse in the 8th Grade. Austin attended West Ottawa high school where he played attack on varsity for 4 years.  After high school he continued his education and lacrosse playing at Hope College. Austin played lacrosse for his first two years at Hope. After his sophomore season Austin started coaching for his old high school for 5 seasons. While he was the assistant varsity coach he coached 5 conference players of the year, along with one All State goalie. Austin has lived in the Vail Valley for 6 years, and this will be Austins second season with the Vail Valley Lacrosse Club. Austin enjoys skiing, camping and mountain biking in his free time. 

Max Kay - Goalie Coach

Max started is lacrosse career in Colorado Springs at the 4th grade playing goalie from the beginning. Max played lacrosse for various club teams in the Colorado Springs area up until high school. He then played 4 years of Varsity lacrosse as the starting goaltender for Palmer High School. He continued to played lacrosse for various tournament teams through high school. After attending a few scouting camps in the East Coast, Max decided to focus on skiing and school, and attended Colorado State University. In college is where Max's coaching career started. He spent three seasons coaching youth lacrosse in Fort Collins. Now living in the Vail Valley Max is a member of the Vail Ski Patrol. Aside from skiing, he enjoys fly fishing, mountain biking and golfl

Mat Ballay - Spring 2017 Helper
Coach Mat grew up playing lacrosse for The Woodlands High School in TX. Mat played Division 1 lacrosse for Big Ten powerhouse Ohio State. Coach was a 2x Ohio State Scholar-Athlete and All-Big Ten Choice. After college he as an Assistant Coach at Denison University in 2009 which reached NCAA Quarterfinals. Mat also has High School coaching experience at Heritiage High School in Colorado. Currently residing in Edwards with his wife Keeley and son Henry. Ballay is a history teacher at Battle Mountain High School and spends hes free time in the mountains that surround us whether on skis, foot, or bike.
 


Eli Edelman - Spring 2017 Helper
Coach Eli Edelman grew up in the Hudson Valley region of New York (NY Section 1) where he played Attack and Midfield for Fox Lane HS. His senior year he was All Section Honorable Mention in 2007. Coach received an athletic scholarship to play Division 2 Lacrosse at National power-house CW Post  (Long Island University) . Coach Eli played 2 years for Post and was a member of the 2009 Men's D2 National Championship team who went 15-1 Overall.  Prior to arriving in the Vail Valley, Eli coached at No Limit Lacrosse Camps in Westchester, NY and Long Island, NY '07 -'13, worked as counselor and moved up to division coordinator for last 3 years as well as coaching the Locust Valley PAL 4th grade boys team '10-’11.

Jamie Urbana - Spring 2017 Helper 
This is Jamie's third season with the Vail Valley Lacrosse Club. Jamie grew up in Denver/Winter Park ski racing and playing lacrosse and tennis. Jamie ski raced for the winter park competition center for 13 years and had great success earning spots on the Rocky/Central Regional Team, and Colorado All-star Team and was selected as an alternate to compete in the Topolino World Junior Games. Jamie played 4 years of Varsity tennis at East High School in Denver finishing 5th place in the 5A state tennis tournament in 2008. Jamie also played 4 years of Varsity lacrosse while at East High School. A 3 year starter, Jamie earned 3 years first team all conference, 1 year honorable mention all state, 1 year first team all state. Jamie was recruited to play Division 1 Lacrosse for the University of Notre Dame, where he hopes to return next year to finish his degree in Management Entrepreneurship. Currently, Jamie coaches ski racing for Ski Club Vail.
